- Mount Isabel de Torres: Mount Isabel de Torres is one of the highest mountains in the Dominican Republic. The cable car journey starts at sea level in Puerto Plata and ends at the peak of the mountain from where you can enjoy the panoramic views of the surroundings.
- Scientific Reserve and Botanical Garden at Mount Isabel de Torres: Located on the top of Mount Isabel de Torres, the garden contains a collection of plants native to the region, including many varieties of orchids.
- Ocean World Adventure Park: This park and wildlife habitat is located in Cofresi just west of the city of Puerto Plata. Among the top attractions are a tropical bird aviary, rainforest exhibit, aquarium, and dolphin lagoon.
- Brugal Rum Factory: Enjoy a tour of the largest rum factory in the Dominican Republic and third largest producer of sugar cane rum. A tour can be taken to observe part of the manufacturing process. The tour ends with a daiquiri tasting and you can also purchase the finer quality rums at best prices.
Dining
You can choose from a wide range of restaurants in Cofres, Playa Dorada Plaza and Puerto Plata, patronized by the tourists and locals. For some more options, you can head to Cabarete which is about half an hour from Playa Dorada.
Nightlife
You will find numerous merengue and salsa music clubs, which mainly attract locals and tourists. Besides, there are casinos at the Choice Holiday, Hotel Playa Dorada and Paradise Hotel in the Playa Dorada complex and Ocean World Casino Resort. In the Cofresi area, Lighthouse Disco at Ocean World Marina & Casino is popular on Fridays and Saturdays.
