Playa Cofresi

Cofresi Beach, located close to Puerto Plata, is named after an infamous Puerto Rican pirate, Captain Roberto Cofresi. This tiny fishing village was just another sleepy bay on the Atlantic till tourism took over and today Playa Cofresi is a much sought out destination in the Dominican Republic.

In the Cofresi area, Lighthouse Disco at Ocean World Marina & Casino is popular on Fridays and Saturdays.

For the golf enthusiasts, there is the Playa Grande Golf Course. The Robert Trent Jones-designed Playa Grande 18-hole golf course is rated by many golf experts as the best in the Caribbean. The course was designed to take full advantage of the area's beauty with ten holes following the cliffs overlooking the incredibly blue Atlantic Ocean below.
